Beaufort Ace Home Center represents the realization of a long-held dream for our founder and owner, Tommy Simpson. Situated in the old Huntley Building Supply location, the store has deep personal significance for Tommy, as Mr. Huntley extending him credit when he was just starting his first construction business was essential in getting his business off the ground.
Years later, Mr. Huntley offered Tommy the chance to purchase the property. It was the perfect moment for Tommy to realize his dream of owning a hardware store. In 1998, Tommy decided to join the ACE Hardware Cooperative, the largest retailer-owned hardware cooperative globally. Each store being individually owned allows for adapting to the specific needs of its local community. Tommy’s experience as a contractor along with insights of DIY enthusiasts and female customers help shape the store’s design and layout.
Fast forward to today, and the moment you walk in the door, you can sense that this is a special place. From the bright smiles and warm greetings to the inviting aroma of freshly popped popcorn for the taking, to the two resident cats lounging around the store and accepting admiration and rubs; you are transported back to a time when you knew your neighbors and people were friendly and helpful.
And then, when you look around you are amazed at the size and scope of the store. 18,000 plus square feet of retail space, a 10,000 square foot lumber warehouse and a big, beautiful, lush garden center. From paint to hardware, lumber, power tools, electrical, plumbing, lawn and garden equipment, grills, home goods, fishing and hunting supplies, just about anything and everything you might need can be found here. It’s the perfect combination of old-fashioned values and service and state of the art products.
